I cannot tell you how much I love his expression in this scene from Ammonite. I *think* it's when he asks Kate Winslet's character Mary Anning to a musical concert and she basically says, 'Not without my lady friend' because Mary is HELLA GAY and Alec's beautiful, Dr. Leiborson is tragically clueless why she keeps blocking.

So this is his expression in almost EVERY scene with Mary and her blunt, no-nonsense, your-tallness-and-soft-brown-eyes-and-sexy-man-beard-have-no-effect-on-me stonewalling. And seriously, Kate Winslet never portrayed a lesbian more than at that moment.

And how STUNNING does he look in this costume?? SO STUNNING.

And here is Alec just last week with his friend Serghei Chiviriga, with whom he has worked with in so many films and plays! Serghei worked with Alec in the play Fight Club, in the short films Best Customer and Paradiso Perduto, and also participated along with Alec, in the Venice Biennale in

I like the way the photo is a reflection off glass where things can be seen beyond the pane. I am fascinated by photos and paintings that have transparent layers and show transposed images. I like looking at a work for a while to discover everything there is to see.

I've been following Alec and his career for almost year now; not as long as some, but I've gotten to recognize the people that he's worked with over time, those that still make up his cadre of friends. Having friends who have known you a long time, who knew you as a kid, a teen, in university, I think it grounds a person. Gives one history. I think this is even more important in the entertainment industry. In an arena that is fiercely competitive and focuses so often on the aesthetic and the topical, long time friends are even more valuable.

Serghei is more into directing these days but seeing them together makes me so happy. :-D

zHere is Alec at Filmfest Haugesund, the Norwegian International Film Festival, in 2017.

I like how the bright yellow and graphic lines in the background match is shirt, how the negative yellow spaces on either side frame him. His smile is adorable and his eye are crinkling and I love how his curls sweep up when they are just growing out but don't have enough density to tousle yet.

And, I mean, who WOULDN'T give Alec the rose? Am I right?

Because, real talk, I'm rapidly running out of Francis and Alec content that people haven't seen before. And I don't care about reposting, but there are so many cool Alec photos and interesting Alec media that doesn't strictly fall under the theme days.

So I'm instituting FREEFORM FRIDAY where I will post all manner of things!

For example, did everyone know Alec is the most attentive cat dad?? He and his gf Cristina are HUGE cat people; at one point she fostered a whole litter of kittens. They both dote on their kitty they call Bubu. We can tell this from above in the grainy photo that looks, to me, almost like a painting that would be named "Man with Cat."

Alec is obviously at-home casual, hair fluffy and his ever present white t-shirt. Bubu seems unimpressed LOL. The adorableness of this is truly fantastic.

Well the horrible news cycle continues apace and the only way to feel better is to consume a lot of Alec therapy! Am I right?

This is from March 2020 and shows Alec doing the obligatory bf/butch thing of Putting Together The Stuff (yes, the butch thing. My late partner was in charge of anything that included hammers, nails, or whatever entailed a power tool to put together. If you are of the femme variety and in charge of building things in your family then may the universe want you for a sunbeam. That is not I. But I digress)

HOW good does he look here holding a hammer and fixing to craft some useful household furniture? I mean, he does have that slightly annoyed look that says, 'Help or go away,' but it's part of his charm, yes? His hair is gorgeous in this photo, at that grow-out stage where his curls start to get that assertive wave and flow and the one lock falling over his forehead is perfection. I realized this is a couple of months before the Picture House Q&A where his curls are EVEN MORE INTENSE.

Also, I love his three quarter profile very much and his scruff is at my very favorite length, just a bit longer than a five-o'clock shadow. He looks like he belongs on the cover of a Harlequin Romance with a title like HER CARPENTRY HUSBAND or REBUILDING HER HEART or something. I don't even read romance novels and I would check that out immediately. So if the work dries up I think Alec has a future as a Romance novel cover boy. :-D

To sum up: get you a person that looks this good while putting together IKEA furniture. It's a tall order BUT IT'S GOOD TO HAVE GOALS!

We’ve made it to Alec Freeform Friday, gente, and I have had one lone, challenging week. I do wish I were where Alec is here, looking out of a car at the expanse of desert.

I have only the vaguest notion of when this is. 2014? 2015? Possibly in Qatar, where he went to shoot a commercial for an exclusive hotel?

I do know I love the energy of this photo. His curls and sunglasses, his profile and the curve of his bicep below the short sleeve of his t-shirt. He looks reflective and content, gaze on the horizon as the hills of sand spread out before him.
