Kinjou believe it’s Christmas already?

We are excited to announce Fake Fourantine, a livestream festival happening this Saturday on 4/4. Artists all tied together by Fake Four will be streaming performances live from their homes, and we'll be hosting it on Twitch!

This will be free to watch on your phone or computer on Twitch, with a donation suggested to help the many artists who have been unable to tour due to coronavirus.

Lineup of acts will be announced in the coming days.

You can also preorder a split vinyl LP between Chief and Anthony Maintain whose EP we'll be sharing next week.Get to know Chief's EP here:The Reclamation Project originated during the shelter­-in-­place phase of the recent COVID­19 pandemic, although the musical elements/instrumentals originated well before then. The instrumentals can be found in their original form on the Chief and TheDoomsdayDevice releases Slow Burnout and This Town Has Turned To Dust, but The Reclamation Project explores the idea of revisitation and adaptation of previously released material and recontextualizing it. Many people found themselves soul searching and recalling the past during shelter-­in-­place, but I’ve always felt like a relatively well­-adjusted and fulfilled individual, which led to my version of soul searching and recalling the past in a creative fashion. As always, the lyrical content is deeply personal and full of references that cover the gamut of human experience, with connections to the original songs that inspired the project thrown in for good measure. Many thanks to Ceschi and the Fake Four Records family for allowing me to be a part of Freecember, and for making me a part of the musical legacy they are creating.

Our final Freecember release of 2019 is an acoustic project by Swordplay, an artist who’s been a favorite of mine since we met back over a decade ago.

At some point we had toyed with the concept of releasing all acoustic projects on Fake Four’s freecember this year. That didn’t quite happen as planned, but I’m happy that the original concept lead to moments like “King George”.

Swordplay’s unique version of Folk rap expresses an energy unlike any I’ve encountered. It’s explosive & packed with dense, dancing lyricism yet somehow feels comforting & classic, emotional but confident.

Beyond my admiration of the style that Isaac presents, this is one of those rare projects that has moved me to tears.

Written as a reflection after the loss of his brother George, Isaac sends letter after letter into the beyond, some final unanswerable questions, some beautifully captured memories along with glimpses into the inevitable regret that goes hand in hand with such deep grief.

In the year after experiencing some of the most difficult losses of my life, King George reaches me profoundly.
