He’d tried to ignore it, for Will’s sake too. But when they started pulling faces at his little brother and laughing at him; that was when the older Byers boy lost it. 

He definitely knew how to throw a punch. Steve could attest to that. And yes...he did have to be dragged away again. He wasn't taken to the police office this time, luckily. Thanks to Hopper. He got off with a scolding; which would probably be repeated by his mom later at home too.

He finally looked at Eddie, "What was I supposed to do? That's my little brother they were ridiculing."

𝙳𝙰𝙵𝙵𝙾𝙳𝙸𝙻𝚂  𝙲𝚁𝙰𝙲𝙺  𝚃𝙷𝚁𝙾𝚄𝙶𝙷  𝚃𝙷𝙴  𝙵𝚁𝙾𝚉𝙴𝙽  𝙶𝚁𝙾𝚄𝙽𝙳  𝙸𝙽  𝚂𝙿𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙶  ,   demanding  life  from  the  cold  in  a  world  that  isn’t  ready  yet  .   she  warms  the  air  around  her  with  cigarette  smoke  ,   the  cloud  engulfing  her  and  eddie  .   

the  air  is  thick  with  spores  as  it  is  ,   and  they  remember  her  .   she  can  still  feel  them  sewing  the  insides  of  her  lungs  together  ,   until  every  breathing  was  like  tearing  a  seam  .

she’s  tied  his  bandana  around  her  face  .

it’s  hardest  for  her  when  he  quotes  tolkien  .   especially  here  ,   in  this  horrible  place  that  made  her  think  it  was  all  she  deserved  .  instinctively  ,   she  reaches  for  him  .   eddie’s  hand  is  thin  and  her  wide  fingers  lace  with  his  .

she  squeezes  ,   applying  affectionate  pressure  .   her  cigarette  is  summarily  put  out  to  stop  him  knowing  there  are  tears  in  her  eyes  . 

maybe  she’ll  explain  it  one  day  ,   after  his  concert  she  couldn’t  get  tickets  to  .  his  solo  debut  ,   and  she’ll  be  out  of  town  .   but  not  just  yet  .

but  if  she  says  anything  now  all  that’ll  come  out  is  her  sobs  .   she  hates  how  she  squeals  when  she  cries  ,   like  an  animal  that  doesn’t  understand  the  pain  its  in  .   but  she  does  ,    because  she  was  lost  here  .

she  forces  shaky  breaths  ,   forcing  herself  to  look  at  him  before  he  starts  to  worry  why  she’s  gone  so  quiet  .   daffodil  smiles  ,   nuding  her  shoulder  against  his  .
