Although I'm not sure what color his necklace is or if I did his arms right, this is what I think he looks like!

I will be editing a few posts, in order to account for the lore rewrite. I liked the story before but I’ve made it better. Deadass kinda excited about it.

This here is Keepsake’s original sketch (which I just finished colouring in to show you!)

I would like to say he has his own little thing going on! Keeps loves thrifted and handmade clothing, nothin is better than wearing something either he or his loved ones have made.

The only exceptions are his boots and gloves which are safe for use in and out of the labs! Keeps often gloats about how he doesn’t have to change shoes when experimenting in the basement of their house, well he USED to gloat anyway. Ref used to have to put on boots because wearing his slides (That make him look homeless, according to Keeps) just doesn’t cut it.

You might be wondering what the markings on him are! Those are actually pigment discolouration he developed due to skewif and weak magic. When he was younger he got bullied for it, but Ref used to say it just looked badass and hype his little brother up. His weak magic has also sadly made him a tad shorter than other Papyri and quickly crushed any hopes of getting in the Royal Guard. So instead Keeps went for the Royal Scientist role as well as becoming a teacher. He encouraged Ref to take his Judge and Royal Guard job full-time.

The magic he does have is a soft baby blue! He is incapable of summoning any coloured attacks, special attacks or special magic skills (teleportation). He mainly focuses on making complex bone structures, which he uses as tools at times. Keeps runs out of magic quickly. He noticed Referee had the opposite issue, too much magic, so he began collecting the magic in it’s raw form from Ref (who happily gave it up), and made small vials of unused magic he could influence to create new and potent magics. Through this he made the vials that have been mentioned in the story!

(Dust preservation had 38 vials made and ‘nuke’ had 17 vials made. Referee was taught how to harvest his own magic directly for health reasons, then learnt how to influence it afterwards through trial and error.)

I can never draw Referee seriously, even though I write him as a mainly serious and composed character, (even when he has his mini meltdowns and beats up some trees). Guess I am forever biased to bully my creations.

I will however use this moment to touch on Referee’s brother FT!Papyrus, who was lovingly nicknamed Keepsake by my friend, Keeps for short! He is honest to god such a compelling and interesting character to me, I had a ton of fun making him. I’m almost sad he isn’t still hanging around with Ref. They had to be separated though. Now not for the ‘haha, my tragic backstory is my brother died and I miss him’, but because Keeps is simply too smart. Any trial or mistake Ref will make in the story, would have been swiftly resolved or avoided by Keeps, because it’s the one thing he is good at, remaining a few hundred or so steps ahead.

Keeps is incredibly smart (:)). As previously mentioned, Ref had a hunch that Keepsake knew about resets and remembered them, he was half right. Keepsake couldn’t retain memories, only knowledge. Like when you write on paper with pencil then erase it, but the indents of the words are still there. Keeps slowly began to form reflex and cautionary tendencies (from soul’s memory of dying so many times), eventually he also began to study many different sciences, until he couldn’t think of anything else to learn. Naturally, if you suddenly knew everything, were surprised by nothing, reacted to things like you had PTSD and had not a single clue why, you would panic. A lot of panic. What I’m trying to say is that Ref has experienced a lot, but is biased by the memories and opinions, Keepsake just KNOWS and he follows that feeling.

Overtime he became harder and harder for FT!Frisk to kill and his health declined rapidly due to the weight of his knowledge. He never approached Ref or asked for help because he couldn’t explain the horrible feeling of Déjà vu he experienced the moment it was the first week of March (when UT!Frisk falls into the underground.) 

He never had a strong relationship with Referee either, it was a more modern, ‘you’re annoying as fuck but I will help you’ vibes. The more resets, the more he learnt about his brother, including a foreboding sense of fear whenever Referee was near a human, like he was going to do something bad. They drifted further apart but never really left each other’s lives because they still loved and cared for each other. 

Keepsake has a really humble and patient personality, but has moments where he ignores other’s opinions or warnings in order to satisfy his own curiosity and wants (even at the sake of others). He was a tad messy, but it was organised chaos, everything had structure. He thinks his brother is a bit of an idiot, but respects him. Keeps had his knowledge, and used his brothers magic not experiment, as his own magic was quite weak.
