How far does our food travel?
We set out to make a dish from food that is within our local environment.
We were given eggs from Ms Balzer’s chickens.  The eggs were smaller than we get from the supermarket and the shells were cream or blue in colour.  They had dates written on them in pencil.  This was so Ms Balzer knew when the eggs had been laid.
Then we searched the school for other ingredients. Â We found broccoli, silverbeet, parsley and kale in our school gardens. Â We took turns picking these before returning to the classroom.
Next we broke the eggs into the bowl and cut up all the green ingredients into small pieces. Â After that we mixed them together and put them in the oven.
When it was cooked we got to eat it.
"It was green and yellow."  "It smelt good!"  "I ate all of it."  "I liked cutting the silverbeet, it was cool fun."​
