since were on the topic of fat coyle id figure id put in a request well more of a drabble if anything:
Trans coyle being insecure about gaining "too much" weight. Transitioning was already a massive hurdle for him to cross considering how historically speaking Trans surgeries were pretty much illegal in America during that time period (I dont know about hormone treatment but Imagine pretty similar) and coyle couldn't just jump ship to Sweden or something to get his chest done so instead he worked out like a mad man and got his chest flat enough without the use of top surgery. Flash forward to sinyala and easterman and franco can't help but notice that coyles actually pretty restrictive with his eating. Both just decide to make a mental note of it but not to press further as everything seems fine until it isn't. Because of coyles lack of eating he can't keep up with reagents as much hes too tired and hes also very snappy and not being able to perform his job makes him extra upset. In truth hes afraid that if he eats too much that all the fat would come back to his chest (and maybe there's still a secret part of him that is still deeply affected by the misogynistic rhetoric he was taught as a child, that girls and women are expected to stay thin)
Both easterman and franco decide that this can't stand anymore, coyles health is only gonna get worse and its definitely not helped by his chainsmoking (and getting bricks and glass thrown at him)
So easterman decides to pull him from the trials and to get him set up for actual top surgery but franco is put in charge of helping with his recovery (and that includes making Leland gain some actual weight which Franco is more than happy to assist with)
Yes! Trans affirming surgery wasn’t really a legal thing in the US until I believe the 50s, and while HRT was available I don’t believe it was popularized (especially for trans folk) until the 60s. There were sketchy black market options (as with everything) or the alternative of going to a different country to have it done. Even once someone transitioned, there was also the aspect of social transitioning (you were expected to have already been living and passing as the opposite gender- without surgery- for I think 2 years before you qualified) and then there was the added pressure of being expected to essentially cut ties with everyone who knew you prior to transitioning and fully becoming your new identity. Long way of saying that- in theory- it’s possible for Coyle to have gotten surgery, but very unlikely (I could see Franco taking a sketchy option for surgery, but not Coyle). Anyway, sorry for that ranting, I’ll posting it when it’s done!
Easterman is too damn skinny it pisses me off!!!! I would like to request a fic where Franco and Coyle feed tf out of Easterman. Maybe they like beg him to have dinner with them and they just keep pressuring to eat more.
