I'm reading Mexican Gothic again and still HATE that it hasn't been adapted into a series yet.
So here's my fancast for my favorite book
okay I remembered that mexican gothic exists and could never think of good fancasts before. I’m still on the lookout for who strikes me as noemi BUT-
does anyone hear me???
they wrote doyle off the show because if they hadn't, he and angel would have started kissing and the writers weren't ready for that

wow. okay i was absolutely blindsided by them killing off doyle so early. to the point where up until he started melting i genuinely thought we were setting up a comedy "oh he kissed cordelia thinking he was gonna die and now he has to face the consequences" ending
i liked him, too. at first i eye-rolled over the nice guy unrequited love thing but i actually became pretty fond of him, plus he had great chemistry with the cast. and finding out straight after that glenn quinn died three years later too, im actually kind of emotional. shame
recently read mexican gothic. what a book
obviously would never criticize individuals for this but man does it grind my gears when ppl universally depict characters as conventionally attractive. especially when the character is canonically unattractive and ESPECIALLY when those characters are non-antagonists and/or women
“i know he’s supposed to be ugly but i find him appealing so i just pretend he’s hot 😊” i am praying on your downfall.
(generically beautiful art of Ugly Character) who is that and what did you do with brienne the beauty
“well they’re not actually ugly, they just think they are because they have low self esteem/the narrator perceives them that way” i am killing you with my mind
like please it is not subversive or feminist or “improving the character” to take a creator’s interesting choice to make a likable character also absolutely chopped and instead headcanon them as attractive. if nothing else it is an incredibly boring decision. definitely my biggest pet peeve in fandom spaces.
