I didn’t expect my experience in France to be so incredibly amazing that readjusting to normal life would be so dull.
It wasn’t just the European experience - it was every little detail that made up one of the most enriching weeks of my life. Not just experiencing Paris as a tourist, but with a group of beautiful people that we were able to form such great friendships with in such a short time, made all the difference.
I loved that we got to know each other so quickly and in a way that just made us all comfortable around one another. We called each other names and made fun of each other’s cultures in a way you can really only do once you’re comfortable, knowing that you can say whatever you want. We taught each other all the worst dirty words in each other’s languages (which I found was a great way to break the ice and get out of initial artificial conversations).
They told us they’d give us one crazy night in Paris that we’d never forget. They delivered.
I’m all too sentimental about this trip but I’m just really bummed that I’m in America right now.
