- We know next to nothing about Ruthye, and that made her feel flat to me as a character. She has a brother, a mom, a father, all brutally murdered by Krem. She’s out to find him for revenge. Her relationship with Kara is there, but there’s not a lot of moments where they really feel like they’ve bonded. I feel like with more time they could have added this. Sure, the room scene where they’re waiting for the couple’s, Bomar and Mareck’s, “friend”, but Kara only really talks about how she was sent away and came about to Earth. I feel like Ruthye should have shared something here.

- Lobo. Oh Lobo. Lobo was great, and unlike Ruthye or Kara, I didn’t mind not knowing much about him because he plays the archetype of mysterious bounty hunter, and he passes through more often than not. But unfortunately the writing was a little weak and I feel like he could have had a nice character dynamic with Kara and Ruthye, both separate and together as a group (case in point, the scene where Ruthye and Lobo are captured and jailed by the Brigands). Instead, he’s kind of just… there. Living in the movie as a deuteragonist, but a different story in the background. I kept waiting for the moment where he and Kara ran into each other, eluded to some sort of history together, had a moment, a conversation, anything, but nothing came of it. Very disappointed with that.

- Krem was a decent villain, but he could have been better. I liked that he enjoyed food. Wasn’t a fan of how silly he seemed, only because the execution came off awkward with it. It just didn’t make sense to me, I guess—the leader of a sex-exploiting race that uses little girls as brides. Being silly? It was just a strange combination.
