After a long week of hard work and not enough play my favorite thing to do is go shopping.  This is hard to admit to when all of my favorite blogs have become remarkably eco-conscious, and are constantly posting DIY projects on how to transform your wardrobe.  As you know Free People has been proudly supporting Earth Month every day of April by giving you tips and tricks on how to reduce your footprint & be conscious of the planet we live on.  In doing this we have realized how much our Free People groupies love helping the environment.  Through all of this excitement over Earth Month, we started wondering what we could do as a brand to pitch in…

We are excited to announce that in the closing of Earth Month, from May to August we will be introducing a 20 item eco-friendly Summer line called “Free People - Free Rainforest”, in which 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Rainforest Trust’s Adopt an Acre Fund.  On average, every $100 given to the Adopt an Acre Fund will conserve one acre of the rainforest.  

Why did we chose to support this nonprofit?

Every day we lose over 125 animal & plant species in the rainforest due to deforestation!

20% of the world’s oxygen is provided from the Amazon alone!

25% of all medicines are sourced from rainforests

In this economy it is hard to find the time and money to be environmentally conscious.  This is why we decided that a line like Free People - Free Rainforest would be a great addition to our Free People family.  Come into Free People this Summer to upgrade your wardrobe and skip out the door with not only some great new digs, but also a warmed heart from knowing that you bettered the planet as well.
