Would you please continue the story about bunny Philip meeting fox Thomas? (prompt)
I assume you meant this one, darling!
Thomas manages to close the door behind him despite having his arms full. The little black bunny is surprisingly tame in Thomasâs hold, snuggled inside a soft blanket and nursing an injured paw and a few scrapes across his back from his struggling against the lawn wire.
âHush,â Thomas rocks the bunny in his hold, rubbing his finger on his soft cheek which seems to make the bunny relax even more despite being in the arms of a fox. âYouâll be alright.â
Thomas swishes his tail as he sets his precious bundle down on the couch, making sure that the bunny is comfortable whilst still nestled inside his blanket. The rabbit sits up, his long black ears are tall and upright, making him seem a lot bigger than he is. His little nose twitches, obviously taking in the scent of the foxâs home.
âNow,â Thomas says softly, âIâm just going to get some warm water and some bandages and then Iâll be right back. Just stay here, alright, little one? Youâre as cute as a button. Not like those other rabbits at all.â
The fox takes a few steps away whilst still looking at his new guest, making sure that heâs behaving himself and staying on the sofa as ordered, and he is. The bunny doesnât move from his spot in the blanket, only twisting slightly to look around the room, so Thomas is content to leave him alone for a moment whilst he fetches his first aid kit. He doesnât suppose that itâll be an easy job, putting bandages on a bunny, but he supposes that itâs his fault that the poor thing has injured himself, coming into his garden and getting in the way of Thomasâs battle with the wild pack of rabbits. Heâs never seen this black one beforeâand he seems tame enough for Thomas to befriend.
He even grabs a carrot from his kitchen to gift to his injured guest.
âThis should help,â Thomasâs tail wags gently, liking the idea of having someone to care for. He walks back into the living room with a smile on his faceâbut quickly disappears. Dropping everything to the ground, Thomas can do nothing but stare.
In the bunnyâs place sits a manâa naked man. With pale skin and fluffy, dark hair cropped just a little above his earsâhis human earsâhe looks like a normal human to Thomasâs eyes, but then he notices the two, silky bunny ears atop his head, tall and proud.
Thomasâs bunny-friend seems to have had a bit of a transformation in his short absence.
âIâd say âdonât freak outâ but I think youâre past that point,â the bunny says. His voice; oh, Heavens. Itâs just as silky as his ears.
Thomas opens and closes his mouth a few times, supposing he looks a bit like a flabbergasted fish but he isnât quite sure how heâs supposed to react to finding a nude man in the place of a bunny.
âIâm Philip,â the bunny says, shifting slightly so his blanket covers his intimate parts when he catches Thomas looking at his endowment.
âYouâre human,â Thomas squeaks.
âIâm a shapeshifter,â Philip replies, giving his two bunny ears a little twitch atop his head. âArenât you?â
âNo. Iâm a fox.â Thomas gives his perfectly groomed tail a swish behind him, raising an eyebrow. âShapeshifters arenât real. No one can be both animal and human.â
âI can,â Philip shrugs. âMy family can.â
âWellâŚwow.â Thomas bends down and picks up his first aid boxâand the carrotâbut still stands awkwardly in the doorway of his own home. âI suppose you wonât be needing these.â
âIâm still hurt,â Philip holds up his hand and shows off the same cut that marked his rabbit paw.
âOh.â But Thomas hesitates. If he gets closer to Philip, heâll be able to see the blush thatâs appearing on his cheeks as his attraction to the manâbunnyâgrows with each passing moment that he steals glances at the handsome man.
But still, Thomas sits down beside Philip on the couch, flushed at how much wider and thicker Philip is than him. A bulky bunny? Who would have thought that Thomas would find that attractive?
Philip holds out his hand, showing Thomas his sliced palm. The treatment begins with Thomas gently swabbing a warm, wet cloth over the cut, holding the bunnyâs palm steady with his own hold.
âIâve been sorta lurking in your garden for a while,â Philip says.
âOh?â
âYeah. Iâve always wanted to say hello but I wasnât sure how.â
âAnd getting stuck underneath my lawn wire seemed like the best option?â
âI didnât mean to get stuck. But I was watching you and then ran away when I thought you saw me.â
âHow very brave.â
Philip huffs, just like a frustrated bunny would do, âWhat was I supposed to do? Shapeshift in the middle of your garden and announce my crush on you?â
âWhat?â Thomas flounders and knocks the box of bandages onto the floor, staring wondrously at his new companion.
âI have a crush on you, Mr McGregor,â Philip says softly, ears flopping over slightly. âA rabbit in love with a fox. You see why I had to hide?â
âI suppose.â Thomas picks up the fallen bandages and wraps up Philipâs hand. âMaybe we should start over.â
âIâd like that,â Philipâs ears perk back up.
âIâm Thomas,â he holds out his hand, flicking out his fox tail. âThomas McGregor. Iâm a fox, and this is my home. A pleasure to meet you.â
âPhilip,â the bunny says. Thomas doesnât see his fluffy, white bunny tail wiggling excitedly. âPhilip Altman. Iâm a shapeshifter. And I promise you, Thomas, the pleasure is all mine.â
When the cocky bunny lifts Thomasâs hand to his lips and gives him a gentle nuzzle with his nose and then a soft kiss, Thomasâs blush runs all down his body.
He still intends on keeping the bunny, though perhaps more of a boyfriend now than a pet.
