Blowing up what felt like the hundredth silo Piper sat on the bed of her truck as she watched the fire slowly burn out while a few scattered bodies began to collect attention from the buzzards above. She had been back in Holland Valley for a day or so, trying to avoid getting blissed out of her mind and dealing with Faith. 

It was quiet for sometime before her radio burst to life drowning out the noises of the crackling fire. A smooth voice chided her through the static. 

“Don’t you feel any quilt, hmm? Piper?” 

John’s voice made her tense as she scooped up her bow before taking the radio and raising it to her lips. Her eyes scanning the field around her, his voice alone making her tune into her anxiety of being out in the open for this long.

“If you have to ask then you should already know the answer.” 

She was braver over the radio that was for sure. Though if he were there she wouldn’t be able to say the same without a possible crack to her voice. 

“Didn’t know we were on a first name basis, John… Or did you finally figure out I had a name?” 

I can hear the puppy eyes from both of you.
