I had this idea a while back! Where Spheal eventually stops hating the brothers and starts to like them. Sorta wanting to be friends with them, but trying to keep it a secret. He just never expected to tell that to anyone because he thought it was so stupid that he likes them.

"Hello, those are my enemies, why do I like them?"

He gets very shy and nervous whenever they appear on a mission he doesn't expect them to be on. He also thought they wouldn't like him back, which is partially true, Dr. Buttocks HATES him during this point in the timeline. It's not really all to obvious to anyone else, but it's extremely obvious to Buttler, considering the complete personality shift.

Yadda Yadda, Buttler ends up befriending him first since he was too shy. And then later became a "wingman" for Spheal to try and get Dr. Buttocks to be friends with him.

If anyone saw him like this, they'd just assume he's afraid of the brothers. Which would be correct, but not for the reason they think.

Throughout the AU, when he's around them, he goes from

super aggressive/mean -> nice -> shy/nervous -> confident/nice (Besties with only Buttler) -> playful/friendly (Besties with both twins)
