Hello everyone and happy Friday, we made it! Today Iām sharing another book haul post and also turning it into a mini review of all three of these Forster books after enjoying a Forster reading frenzy with the lovely @pezzasclassicbooks @readingpenguin14 and friends in October. I feel like 2022 has been the year where Iāve re-discovered my love of classics. š Iāve previously read and loved A Room With A View by Forster in the past and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try some more of his work. Where Angels Fear To Tread was the first I picked up and although it hasnāt left as deep an impression when I compare it to the other two novels, Iām still in awe of the way he writes, particularly female characters. Iāve found that thereās always a delicious little surprise that youāre not expecting with Forster and this particular one was heartbreaking š Up next was Howards End. I loved the characters in this book! Particularly Margaret who was independent, determined and took no prisoners. I also appreciated the difference in morals, values and traditions between three very different families and how Forster managed to bring everything together for quite a satisfying ending. Finally, A Passage To India, which funnily enough, is the novel I keep thinking about. Some of the casual racism in here is very much of its time but made me feel extremely uncomfortable at times. Again, it follows how certain groups of individuals, this time from different cultures and beliefs get on together when thrust into a certain situation. It was shocking, surprising but incredibly readable after somewhat of a slow start. Iād love to know if youāve ever read anything by this author. Are you a fan?
