formidare replied to your post: i’m still so confused about earlier...
sparknotes version: you have to recognize her whiteness from a political/social pov, but if lindsey claims latina and kyara does too, it’s fine to have her embrace that on the whole in character from a cultural standpoint (because there is no ? white culture to claim??? at least, as specifically outlined as any non-white race or ethnicity) as long as you acknowledge that she is half-white.
so is it problematic for me to have kyara’s ethnicity as fully mexican when lindsey is half-white, half-mexican ?? as long as i’m not erasing lindsey’s half-whiteness, i’m okay ??

it’s important to include the white half as far as discussions of privilege go, esp. if they’re light skinned or white passing. but i have seen absolutely no part-white black person/poc (who actually claims their identity as a poc) ever speak in terms of ‘identity as a white person’ outside of privilege. it’s only about the ambiguous middle ground that makes them less of a poc and not fully white, either.
yeah, in terms of light skinned or white passing, i can definitely understand. lindsey is neither light skinned or white passing & she identifies as latina.
txt: I’m not closing myself off to the possibility of making a bad life choice.

‘do you have a place to stay?’ he questions; he realises he doesn’t actually know that much about her other than what he knew of her as a chimera. he should probably rectify that if she’s growing on him for some UNBEKNOWNST reason, right? ‘i can give you a ride home if you want.’

She’s human again -- as human as she can be. It’s kinda BEAUTIFUL that way. If everything was going to fall apart ( like it did so many times ) at least it was going to fall so the pieces could all twine themselves back together. She’s human and she’s here and while his dad might be WEARY of it, Scott knows that Tracy never m e a n t them harm. She was just dragged ( not so different from Scott in that way ) into a world she didn’t WANT to be a part of. A world of power and excitement -- a world of promise so far beyond the one they already knew and loved.
who wouldn’t want to be a part of something as intoxicating as a supernatural pack?
But now she’s here. Her claws are gone and her mind is different. It seems like she wants to be here -- he knows he wants her to be here. ❝ -- -- -- come on. ❞ His words are soft, a hand out stretched to her with a smile. ❝ There’s something around back I want to show you. ❞

she’s never felt more stupid in her entire life -- or at least the parts she can still remember. maybe dad was right, the tiny voice she likes to ignore whispers as the cashier gives her a half sympathetic, half annoyed smile and tap tap taps on her register again, the debit machine lighting up for the fourth time.
for some reason, lost allison had changed the pin that had protected her savings since she was eleven, babysitting the romano twins in emporia, missouri. with hot tears threatening to form behind her eyes, slightly trembling fingers try punching in her birth year, wondering if her memory of her first pet had been tarnished enough to change the code from the numbers corresponding with TINK. once again, she is wrong, and the debit machine chimes angrily at her.
“ i’m so sorry . ”
as the cashier huffed over her shoulder to one of her coworkers, allison couldn’t help but apologize profusely to the girl in line behind her. it wasn’t like she needed the soy milk and muesli, but there was a twisty, dark hunger eating at her from the inside, the need to prove to her father and to herself that she wasn’t a helpless mess.
