Summary: one of the kids got a little too rough with goob and mugs wanted to help him.

Today, surprisingly, had been a more relaxed day for everyone in the mall .... until it wasn't. Goob had tried to help a kid create their bear but unfortunately the child had other plans. Every time goob was trying to suggest or direct the kid on what to do they always threw a fit one way or another. And honestly? He was getting annoyed by it. Which doesn't usually happen since good is a very patient person with kids or anyone for that matter! But this kid kept running to his mom and making false accusations to the point she had threatened him because apparently her cousin knew the CEO of build-a-bear. It wasn't like he couldn't ask mugman or shrimpo for help but he knew shrimpo would throw a fit at the lady and cause a scene. And mugs was too busy dealing with his own kids. So here he was, letting the kid torment and disrespect him just so he wouldn't lose his job.
"now in order for this for your bear to be your forever friend you need to say these words and hold the heart tightly, ok?" As he held the bear in one claw and Trying to hand the heart to the kid in the other but apparently they weren't having it
"that sounds stupid, just stuff the bear and give me it so I can leave" the boy huffed out.
"I'm sorry but I can't do that, otherwise your forever friend won't stay with you." Good tried again in a calming voice looking towards the mom for help. But she was too busy yelling at whoever was on the other end of the phone to pay attention to the situation at hand. "Everyone knows that's a lie anyway! Just give me the stupid bear!"
Then in one swift movement the boy tried to grab the bear from goob but accidentally ripped out a part of his stuffing from his arm. Once he saw the stuffing had started to panic not really caring about how rude the kid was for snatching the bear out his hand and running to complain to his mama.
Fortunately for goob, Shrimpo saw the last bit of the interaction and immediately went over to check if his "colleague" was okay. "Damn that looks rough, you go and take a break alright? I'll handle little miss ignorance."
Goob nodded not wanting to fight to stay on the floor because he knew he wasn't gonna be able to handle anything else in this condition. And with that he walked into the back and went into the break room. There, he went to find the bow where they usually kept the thread and needles. Since he was made mainly out of plush all he had to do was sew himself back together easily right? Well unfortunately for him, it wasn't that easy. Normally he would ask scraps for help since she was older, and his claws would get in the way. But she wasn't here, which made the task a lot easier. And it wasn't like he could leave the store like this just to bother her for something as small as this, that would attract even more attention! So he was stuck here attempting to see himself back together. It was until the 5th try that mugman had come in with a worried look on his face.
"oh my god, goob! I heard what happened from shrimpo, are you okay?" Said the porcelain as he walked over to sit near him
"yea I'm alright for the most part, just got a little fur sticking out" slightly raising his arm to show his partner.
The mug had looked down and slightly cringed inward. It wasn't like there was blood or anything just .... plush. It was just awkwardly sticking out of his arm. And For some reason that made mugman's skin crawl.
"alright pass me them needles and thread so I can patch you up" taking goob's arm and placing it in his lap so his could get better access to the injury. Thankfully the plush toon didn't retaliate and let mugman work his magic. "What happened out there while I was gone?" "Shrimpo basically cussed the lady out and told her don't come with her or her bougie son back in here" that got a laugh out of goob.
"it's kinda funny when you think about it tho, all that fussing for a toy?" Mugs took a bite out of the thread after finishing the last stitch "I could see if they had it for a while but the kid literally got a brand new one!"
Now it was mugman's turn to laugh, good usually didn't talk shit about the customers that came in. Usually only small comments of him defending the clients in-between mugs and shrimpos daily lunch sessions but it was nice to see this side of him every once in a while. "some people just ain't got no common sense" walking over to put the equipment away
Right as he put them away shrimpo came in with what seems to be the best the child took. "I banned that ignorant ass woman for you" then sat in the chair next to him handing him the half stuffed bear "so don't say I never did shit for you"
Goob looked down at the plushie, he was kinda sad that he wasn't able to help the kid with his forever toy but did the kid really deserve to have it? I mean sure all kids deserve toys that make them happy but being rude to get them ain't gonna cut it. "Yea..thanks shrimpo" turning to him and wrapping him in a hug "aye man! You just got your arm fixed, get offa me before you make it worse!" Goob knew that wasn't the real reason and that he was just embarrassed.
While the two were stuck in the hug, it left mugs leaning on the wall staring at them like it was the cutest thing ever. ... Til he realized no one was watching the store. "fuck!" Was all the duo heard as they watched mugs run out of the break room and then back in. "Goob stay in as long as you need okay? I gotta get back out on the floor, and so do you shrimpo c'mon!" Then rushed back out. Shrimpo groaned against goob's fur before pulling away from the hug to mock mugman "alright mom, I'll get back to work" "hey! Don't do him like that y'know he means well" "yea yea man, whatever" as shrimpo waved him off and started to walk out the door "seriously tho, that shit can be overwhelming so just relax for a bit Kay?" All shrimpo got was a Small smile and a nod before walking back out onto the floor.
It was safe to say that day goob was grateful he had other toons on his team, not just his sister
