Lanolin sighs as she comes through the front door, shrugging off her jacket, slipping off her shoes, and setting aside her bags. It had been a long day at work, and she was ready to curl up and relax. She raises her hands about her head, grunting as she stretches, and letting out a long yawn, before opening her eyes to look around the living room.
….and immediately she senses something is wrong. Nothing is outright out of place, but something in the atmosphere is setting her on edge. Her kitchen window is open, she notes, and some of the decorations on the counter beneath it are out of place. She quietly moves into the kitchen further to look about, on edge.
Someone’s broken in. With a hand on her bell, ready to wake Maggie at a moments notice, she explores around further. Down the hall, a laundry hamper is knocked over, and she heads towards it. This leads her to further discover that her bedroom door is open. Her nerves are on edge as she slowly pushes the door open, finger ready to flick the bell…
…and suddenly teeth are snapping at her, hands grasping and clawing. A blur of black and green is ready to tear her to shreds as she falls back onto the ground and flicks her bell.
But nothing happens. Maggie lazily floats out of the bell with her usual unamused look, shrugging a limb at the sobbing tenrec before her. Surge? Why is Surge in her house? Why is she sobbing on the ground. As her senses slowly come back to her, she comprehends that Surge seem’s to be mumbling something.
“Hurt, hurt him, have to hurt him. He did this, it’s his fault, I have to hurt him I have to kill him I have to. The voice, he keeps telling me to hurt him, to attack him, to tear him apart, why can’t he leave me alone why can’t ANY of them leave me alone. hurt, kill, I HAVE TO-”
A gentle hand cups Surges chin, shocking her just enough to get her to stop spiraling. Lanolin tilts the tenrec’s face so she can look her in the eyes with concern. Surge is still hiccuping, tears streaming out of her eyes.
“…h…h-his voice is so loud today…” she chokes out, and Lanolin quietly pulls her into a nervous hug. Surge latches onto her desperately, and sobs into her shoulder. Lanolin had only seen this once before. Nearly tore Sonic to pieces that day before anyone could calm her down. But why was she here? Did… was she specifically seeking her out for comfort over someone else?
“…Shhh… he’s not here. I promise. It’s alright,” Lanolin quietly coos to her, petting the back of her head for a while. It helps alot, and eventually Surge calms down enough to speak properly.
“‘m sorry… d’n’t know wha’ t’ do… drippy’s g’ne f-for now ‘n I jus’… hiccup n-needed s’meone I trusted…” She sniffles, face still buried into wool, slurring her words slightly from crying her voice raw. Trust? Surge trusted her? That was a new one. Lanolin goes to respond, but the girls next words shock her.
“…y’ smell nice…” she whispers ever so softly, nuzzling into her shoulder, before she’s out like a light.
….Oh
