Forgiveness...
What it is and isn't...
Whatโs the value of staying resentful instead of forgiving? Resentments give us a sense of moral superiority, a sense of power. Itโs an action which sets out to protect our self-esteem especially when self-esteem is extremely low and borders mimicking narcissistic behavior. It blinds us from our inner self.
Without forgiveness, life is governed by an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation. We are destined to repeat these cycles until we learn to properly forgive others AND most importantly, forgive ourselves. Whether we like to admit it or not, we are an active part of every situation we blame others.
What Does Forgiveness Give Us? Forgiveness does NOT mean condoning, capitulating, or concurring with what caused any level of resentment. Itโs important to deeply understand forgiveness releases us from resentments and is the path to our own freedom and healthy soul. The reality of true forgiveness lies in setting ourselves free from holding onto any form of pain. It is simply the act of releasing ourselves from the negative energy of situations and people.
Forgiveness is NOT resignation, forgetting, or "permitting" what we define as odious behavior from others. The crucial forming and holding fast to personal boundaries deepens the ability to actually forgive others.
Forgiveness is NOT a cop-out. Itโs a conscious, powerful practice. Forgiveness is actually one of the most powerful paths to personal freedom and well-being.
