They’re good questions, and I’ll try to keep the answers non-spoilery. :) 

5. What part of the fic am I still dissatisfied with?

I’m not sure I managed to convey the sense of unease and potential danger right. It feels like such an empty threat, since Morgoth and Ungoliant are gone - and readers know this even if the characters don’t. And I think there’s only so much terror you can derive from “it’s dark and cold, what’s going on, will the light be back?” especially once the initial shock value of the actual event of the Darkening has worn off... at least narratively speaking. I tried to make the potential repercussions terrifying on a more purely emotional level, as with Toron, but I don’t know if I succeeded. Of course the literal event of daylight vanishing forever is terrifying on its own, but it doesn’t work as the sole hook to build a fic on. I do have an idea to fix this a little, though, once I pick up working on it again.

6. Who’s my favorite character in the fic?

This is a fic with most all my favourite female characters, and OFCs I could indulge in to my heart’s content, so this is hard to answer! ;) But I do love Máriel an awful lot; she’s so precocious and adorable. 

9. Did anyone in the fic surprise me by doing anything? If so, what?

The question is: do the heads of the house ever like, talk about doing Finrod? Or do all of them think they must have been the only one? Does Finrod rotate his entire household staff just to prevent awkwardness?
