For once, for once - when Jackie makes her presence known to Shauna, she isn't there to be angry. Harsh. Bitter. Throw everything Shauna did - not only to her, but to everyone else - back in her face. For once she isn't there to be some fucked up reminder or conscience or whatever the hell she is. No, this time the second she sees Shauna - her facial expression softens. Probably the softest she's looked at her in years.

Jackie stiffens, not at the question itself - but at the fact that it's Shauna who's asking it. Like she has any right, like she's allowed to be shocked or sad or whatever it is she's feeling right now, like Jackie wouldn't be this if hadn't been for her in the first place. The choice to live hadn't been an easy one, and becoming something like this might not be her first choice ... but this is what she is now.

Jackie lets out a scoff, rolling her eyes as she turns to face Shauna. "Well gee, I wonder why." Her tone cold and sarcastic, the type of tone she'd never use with Shauna before - but now seems to be her default setting for the brunette. Even if deep down, there's a desperate sort of part of her that just wants to forget all of that. To forgive everything that had led up to that night, to forgive her. But ... she can't. Not yet at least. Not when every single time she looks at Shauna all she can think about are those biting words that had been hurled at her, every single thing she'd read in those journals - can picture her with Jeff and that thought makes her so unbelievably sick to her stomach she genuinely wants go vomit. So she doesn't, she holds strong - tilts her chin upwards and levels her with a look just as cold as her tone.

05.     closet. in addison's closet you will definitely, obviously find - cheerleader uniforms. perfectly pressed pastel outfits that are a few sizes too small at this point, & collecting dust. a plethora of bows. outfits that have much more variety & personality, some multi-patterned & multi-colored. an old z football jersey. shoes that range from white tennis sneaks for cheer & cutesy little heels (that only succeed so much at making her taller). some older medals & trophies from cheer camp when she was younger. some purses, bags, other little accessories. some jewelry is kept there, but most is kept in the rest of her room. an old music box from her grandma. a childhood stuffed bear. a few other little sentimental things. some photo albums & scrapbooks. a box filled with mementos from various dates with zed, hang outs with bree, cousin outings with bucky (etc). cheer whistle hung up on a hook.

Jackie almost flinches hearing that question, being forced to confront that thought again. Being forced to remember her hopeful optimism that rescue is coming can only get her so far. When it's looking more and more bleak as the days pass and time stretches on. When she knows Shauna has every right to ask that question because it's a very, very, real possibility. But admitting that is a lot harder than denying it so ... She looks to her best friend and gives a little shrug, attempting a smile. "C'mon now, Shipman. Don't think like that." Playful roll of her eyes. "We'll get out of here, don't worry. They're not going to just forget about us."

Jackie freezes the second she hears those words fall from Shauna's lips, staring at her almost in shock. The words she'd been waiting so long to hear, desperate for, she didn't think they'd ever come ... and now that they have. She doesn't know how to react, doesn't know what to do, what to say. She's just quiet, hand going up to run through her for the need to do something, anything. "You are? Really?" Her tone is a mixture of things, disbelief, hope, sadness, desperation. "Because ... I really feel like I need a little more than an 'I'm sorry', Shauna." And that's her standing her ground for once, not giving in so easily. Go crawling right back to Shauna ... like everyone expects of her. Like she can hear them whisper about.
