rules of exploring the forest:
1. if you walk through taller vegetation during only slightly warmer temperatures, it doesn't matter how much repellent you put on. you shall get ticks. you will get ticks. the ticks are unavoidable.
2. some forests will have an uncanny feeling to them or make you feel like you're not welcome. you will tell yourself it's just the environment.
3. rain is just water. it is not dangerous.
4. animals will scare the shit out of you when they get startled by your presence.
5. you will get a feeling that some stuff you find on the ground you are not supposed to take with you. you will wonder if this fear is warranted.
6. you will find things in the forest in the middle of nowhere that make you go "what the hell is this doing here?!"
7. the feeling of someone following you will probably only get stronger when looking behind you.
8. if you didn't bring water and are now far from home, you've fucked up.
