stancest drabble -
aka: angst city bitch! miscarriage tw. hurt/comfort.
summary: Celebrating a new life for Stan's Godson and Goddaughter comes with a whole new level of hurt when he finds Ford crying alone in his room minutes after the impromptu party started.
It wasn't that hard to get everyone in one room like they usually did on their movie nights, but it still put Stan on edge, just a bit. The four of them were waiting patiently in the living room for whatever 'super cool announcement' Soos had for them.
Minutes later, Soos and Melody excitedly make a fun entrance to state their business; Melody's with child. Stan immediately got up to congratulate them, as did their niblings. A plate of cookies is presented, Melody stating that they wanted to make a little something to celebrate. Ford also congratulates them, and in the chaos of everyone getting cookies, he disappeared.
It's not the first time he's done that, but they've been sailing and coming back to Gravity Falls for years now, and that wasn't like Ford's usual behavior. That's the type of behavior he exhibited the first couple of months he exited the portal. It wasn't sitting right, so he makes some excuse and stalks through the halls to find his twin.
He looked in Ford's study, and miraculously the door wasn't locked. Stan saw him though, sitting with his shoulder's hunched over and hands covering his face, emitting choked and breathy noises. He entered, closing the door behind, and carefully walked over to sit next to his crying brother. "What's the matter, Sixer?"
Heaving in a breath through his gritted teeth, he tried to sound confident as he wiped his tears away, "I apologize, I truly am happy for them. It's... not about me, right now. It shouldn't be."
Stan pulled him close, wrapping his arms solidly around him Hesitant to ask, he does anyways, "Does this have to do with that 'thing' you said you'd share but haven't?"
Ford nodded against him.
It was time. "Listen, nerd, I'm gonna be real with you. I'd rather let them celebrate and be in here comforting you if you're upset. You still don't have to tell me if you don't want, but maybe talking about it after all this time would help."
There's a pause between them, Ford nodded again and tucked his head into Stan's neck to gently resume tearing up. Stan simply held him as he cried some more, not knowing what ailed him was eating at his psyche slowly, as were the gently racked sobs against his skin.
Finally, Ford quieted down and started whispering the truth. Things he'd never uttered a word about to someone until now. How when he entered the portal, after a few years he was stable enough to have sexual encounters periodically. Ford had been safe and careful, doing his research on the aliens he was interested in. Yet, he ended up pregnant regardless by a species that was compatible with human males, the genetic material changing and adding to his insides.
With all the stress Ford had been under, escaping certain space governments, attempting to find parts for his blueprinted weapon, and finding his next place to lay low, it wasn't long before he succumbed to a miscarriage. Ford explained he'd felt guilty, started tearing up again, and continued to say it's not that he wanted that to happen. He welcomed being pregnant at some few points, but was relieved that he didn't have to worry about having to find a safe place to raise a child.
Stan held him tighter, whispering, "I'm sorry, Ford. That must've been awful."
