If you're really curious how "Jack is abusive" theory came to be: it was from early days of Walten Files, where we didn't have 5 episodes if characterisation yet. Maybe when it was still just first two, if I remember right. Adult Sophie said something about him feeling distant or cold, but that he never hurt them, and that last line some people read as too insistent. (I will say him being livid with Felix doesn't necessarily negate it - parents may be very protective of their kids and love them fiercely and still abuse them.)
But from everything else we've seen, especially in episode 5, I definitely believe he wasn't. We see him trying to console Sophie, and he was doing pretty well, all things considered.
True, it doesn't negate it. I just still didn't get that vibe from him despite it all. I really don't. Honestly, I'm kinda glad my instincts proved right(for once-)
So many times I rewatched episode 3, I don't exactly remember Sophie talking about her dad. I may have to re re rewatch it again, with the new info I have, because I GENUINELY don't remember what she said(my mind is fucked, I fear-)
I appreciate the explanation, I wasn't actually expecting one, but I'm glad I got it! I've been watching TWF for years, ever since it came out, but I've never been into the fandom until now. So I'm happy to get insight from the early days. So thank you very very much ^^
