The Lovers Reversed - Queen of Grails - Ten of Scepters Reversed

Short term we have The Lovers reversed, a lack of unity or devotion (a relationship with others or a conflict within yourself), being unable to reconcile choices, hiding from a decision. Indecisiveness, inconsistency, or being argumentative. Reaching for an idealised, and unattainable, goal. Projecting onto others. Self-sacrifice. Disharmony. It appears that your goal is unattainable for the near future due to conflicts within yourself. An inability to correctly judge what you can achieve, or an unwillingness to do what is needed to reach your goal. You may be avoiding an understanding of what your goal will cost you to achieve, and thus you will hit a black that you will not be able to pass until you acknowledge what you are ignoring and reconcile the cost with the payout. Will it be worth it? You can't truly decide to pursue a goal until you can say in your heart that it's worth the cost.

Long term, if you decide to pursue your goal, you have the Queen of Grails. The strong feminine aspects of the emotional suit. She is the embodiment of the water aspect of water, as such she is a strongly intuitive card, one that suggests a full understanding and acceptance of our own emotional state. It is also a very reflective card, the Queen mirrors back the world around her. Receptive and reflective, she embodies all that she surrounds herself with. Introspective and ambiguous, patient and loving, nurturing and pure. Like the High Priestess, this card can also imply an oracle or medium. She is a sympathetic and kindhearted card, who sees deeply into the core of the matter. It seems from this that your goal will be obtainable only after you work on yourself and your environment. Create what you wish to become. The key point here seems to be understanding your own emotions, let them guide you but not control you. Look with a calm eye over all that would lead you. Let go of the fear and anger that may hold you back and move forward with self-love and acceptance. Forgive that you will not be perfect, it is enough that you are trying. A queen does not rule by comparing herself to others; She rules by being a little better and wiser each day than she was the day before, and by acting on everything she's learned.

To improve your outcome we're looking to the Ten of Scepters reversed. Normally this would imply taking on too much, not fulfilling your obligations, repressing feelings and blocked energy. Malice, injustice, and oppression. Self-delusion and heavy burdens. Within this reading I would take it to imply that you must avoid these things. Be kind to yourself, don't overwork yourself or beat yourself up for falling short of goals. Be honest about your feelings and work with them, don't push them down and bottle them up. You may feel like it will help in the short term but in the long term it will be one step forward two steps back. In a lot of ways this card is the reverse of the Queen of Grails, and as such seems to be a warning that if you fail to heed the queen's lessons you will fail. 

But I also think there's a second meaning here. 10 is traditionally the card of completion. The work is done, all you have left to do is tie up loose ends and reap your rewards. Reversed I feel it may be a warning against this mindset. There is no end, the self-acceptance you need to work on for your goal will be a life-long journey for you. Self-love is hard, and a battle we never really stop fighting.
