REVIEW: Aniseed Treats Single Launch @ Sticky Mike's Frog Bar, Brighton | 19/02/15
With support from Daisy Jean Russell and Fools Empire.
Leading the lineup was Daisy Jean Russell and her band. With only a month of being together as a full band under their belts as well as it being their first show as an ensemble, they brought with them a solid performance, encompassing a minimalistic yet technical set. There were loop samples galore, a very pretty stratocaster, ambience and prowess. They were a pleasure to watch.

Next up were Fools Empire, by no means newcomers to the scene, they brought with them a mixture of old and new material. With their familiar ambient feel with songs such as Wish You Were and Take It All from their This Is Not For You EP and newer more upbeat tracks mixed in; you could witness the evolution of the band and the progression to the use of even more synthesised sounds; making their set sound bigger and more powerful than ever before.

Bearing with them a giant light up 'A' and a 'T', Aniseed Treats' set made you feel like you were enjoying a gig from your very own living room. With their melt like honey vocal harmonies and an energy that cannot be forced, they created a warm and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
If you've ever witnessed an Aniseed Treats gig before you will be aware of some of their songs already; always extremely singable and rememberable with a hint of grace, a pinch of mellow and a sprinkle of lyrical dexterity. With an encore of 'Glue', their debut single, they brought with them members of the support bands which resulted in a very full yet very powerful powerhouse of sound. They were very good, I bought a t-shirt.
