the reason my keys haven't been working is cause I rebooted. you have to start ShiZuku via Adb each time.

wish this dpad controlled my music in a reasonable way
I said before that it works as expected. this is not in fact the case.
honestly the controls on my burner phone look pretty nice right now. never mind that it could only hold 5 songs

mostly used my normal phone today but technically that should count as a pda instead...
either way. I carved button shapes into the keyboard since it was previously just a completely flat sheet which was completely unusable in the dark once the backlight turns off- the max duration is 15 sec. stupid short
my music player of choice is finamp which works as expected. takes a while to type in the web address of my server but only once fortunately.
I still need the touchscreen for notifications, but other than than that android actually works pretty okay with the keypad.
New plan: wait 7 days with sim card in
Problem: only have one sim card and it's the one I'm using right now
