Love and other Drugs (Collab: Foetalwrites and Soulpensieve)
so foetalwrites and I were talking about love and our poems

and somehow we got a collab out of it, so we thought we'd share it. enjoy.
When love becomes mechanized,
and every action simply cardboard,
there is little life to this feeling,
and its purity is almost tarnished
by our muddy, human hands.
but isn't tarnished, torn and tattered
exactly what love is supposed to be?
Love by nature is imperfect
constantly growing, ever evolving.
mechanized maybe, boring, sure.
but too much love, boring, tattered
and steady
will always be better than not enough love
Of course, I'm not saying
that lovelessness is better.
That love should be contained,
chained up under the oceans.
I'm merely saying that humans,
in all our grand ambitions,
have treated love with less respect
than we really ought to.
We have stopped paying attention
to the people who matter,
and instead chase targets,
images of ourselves
that are indestructible.
Love should be a healing feeling,
that seeps through our bones
on lonely winter nights.
Love should be gentle,
love should be bold.
But never should we
perform love.
For it more than that.
that's so very true
love isn't a ritual
a task
or a routine
it's an all encompassing feeling
that plants its root in your heart
and becomes a part of you
like the blood in your veins.
it should be as natural
as breathing or blinking
not as laboured as
lifting or lying
