SOME SUMMERS AGO, YOU & I... ft. @fmhyojin
june, 2014. it was somewhere no one probably expected it to happen. in the spaces between the wants and shouldn’ts. in this space, those were often forgotten. the Korea University of Arts library: brightly lit, wide windows and sun shining through the open space. nina is pulling out a book. through the teeny space, a pair of eyes peer at her.
she jumps, “ hyojin! ” her voice pierces the silence between the aisles as she backs away, one hand yanked away and another pressed onto her mouth.
her heart jumps at the sight of those eyes coming from nowhere. she sees the cat like grin curving mischievously. his eyes light up even in the brightness of the library bulbs, but the brown orbs are ever warm. then her heart lulls back into its regular beat. at least, regular enough when she’s beside him.
“ what are you doing here? ” nina asks as she walks down the aisle, “ i doubt you’re interested in the intricacies of chinese influence on korean art. ” she purposely avoids his gaze, eyes darting from book to book to keep, not really looking. as if she could pretend he wasn’t here at all.
she’s a bit unkept, all messy bun and frayed overalls with paint crusted on them — cute, but unkept. her mother always taught her to be conscious of all her clothes she was wearing, even if there was no one to see. but she doesn’t want him to see her like this. these frayed overalls and messy bun— like this, she’s just a university student. but she isn’t just a university student and that is what’s most complicated of all.
