FMGE SYLLABUS
According to the FMGE Exam Syllabus/ MCI test design 2020 for June meeting, there will be 300 different decision questions (MCQs) which will be partitioned into two sections - Part An and Part B. The time length of each part will be 150 minutes and there will be a booked break in the middle of the two sections. The test will be led on a solitary day in two moves ie., toward the beginning of the day and night move. It is compulsory for competitors to show up for both the papers, as referenced in the test example of FMGE 2020.
Medical Council of India (MCI) Screening Exam which is also known as MCI Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) is a qualifying exam conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in India. Indian students who completed MBBS abroad in countries like Russia, China, Philippines, Georgia, Kirgizstan, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Bangladesh & other foreign countries must clear MCI Exam for Foreign Medical Graduates to get licence to practise in India. Only the candidates who have passed MBBS from MCI recognized medical colleges abroad are eligible to appear FMGE. A list of mci approved foreign medical colleges can be found on MCI website.
After passing MCI Exam for Foreign Medical Graduates, students have to undergo compulsory 1 year rotatory internship in India after which they get permanent registration with MCI (MCI is now replaced by NMC: National Medical Commission) or State Medical Council.
The difficulty level of FMGE: Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (MCI Screening Exam) is comparatively high & is similar to NEET-PG. Due to “Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)” students cannot share the actual MCI exam questions with anyone in written, oral or electronic forms. Hence, MCI past questions or FMGE question papers are not available for students to review.
After passing MCI Screening Exam, during internship the students may appear NEET-PG if they want to pursue post-graduation (MD/ MS/ DNB/ Diploma).
From 2022, FMGE & NEET-PG will be merged & replaced by NEXT: National Exit Test which will be a common exit exam for MBBS, Indian as well as Foreign Medical Graduates.
