it took hyojung a whole decade for her to realize what she wanted with her career, but there were still moments where she felt lost. like she didn’t know how to live a life that wasn’t in this spotlight. she’d been in this industry for so long that she can’t see a life where she isn’t selene’s hyojung or actress jung hyojung. what would be left of her if that was stripped away.

that’s why she’s invited yerin to her home—it was pretty rare for her to have guests—and tried to lay out this environment where she could be free to speak about everything she wants to. however, she doesn’t want to start out with that, so she decides on a more lighthearted topic. “so is another acting job not in the future for you yet? i mean, you were amazing as yurim, i feel like you would have had tens of scripts waiting for you afterward.”

practice was something that’s important, duri knew that. so, it only made sense to go get extra time to practice with titan. he would text the members once he had made it there, if the room was empty, so that he could tell the staff of crowned that he wanted to use the pass that unlocked with his key, allowing titan to practice at any time. so, he thought that he’d give it a shot. even if his leg was feeling sore from all the practicing, performing, just having it in general, and everything else in between. but, still, he had to make sure everything was perfect, simply from the sting of round two. 

he made the way over to where practice was and entering. it was a bit odd getting to see the board daylight, since titan only got to practice in the middle of the night as a punishment for getting rank eleven. his eyes had seemingly looked around, trying to decide which door to try. he could see groups in the other one, but there was one that was quiet, seemingly having no movement - so, he had only hoped, especially with cameras being around, filming in. nonetheless, he steps forward to the door. 

confidence not cockiness, as joosung liked to say, and while she usually managed to scramble together some level of it in her idol activities, this time, she couldn’t muster it. her spirits had come around to being much higher than they were on the ranking announcement day, but it wasn’t a perfect fix. her confidence had been shot; what else could she do to get around that?

sung tried to, pulling out a go getter attitude, trying to rally the members’ morale while also inadvertently rousing her own. in moments, she slipped, like right then. looking towards the practice room mirror, she found herself overanalyzing every square inch of herself, the space. before then, she’d been focused in on the members, to find what areas they could improve to reach dance perfection. normally, that wouldn’t be enough to tell. reaching dance peaks was always important to sung, but paired with the new thoughts that popped up during a short break, there was no denying that joosung was in her own head.

she turned to the nearest member, yerin then, to ask, “how are you feeling about our stage? the most honest you can be, good and bad.”

"hey, there's a bald spot on the back of your head."

the words ring loud and clear, the voice known too well as he lifts his gaze from his phone to look at yerin. “hahaha, very funny. say that a bit louder so the stylists can have a panic attack.” he says, tone of his voice laced with sarcasm as he tips his phone to the corner of the room, filled with stylist and mua’s chatting. he doesn’t dwell much on it, honestly speaking, with all the bottled up stress jihoon has had around this show, filming for another one, finishing up their new singles and preparing for tour.. yeah, jihoon’s couldn’t care less if he was going bald.

nevertheless, she can’t help herself from walking out of equinox’s bubbling dressing room—not because of the members but because of the number of people that were stuck in there—and going on a search for an empty place to simply breathe. she knew of some dressing rooms that weren’t in use at this time (props to the writers back when she was the mc) and so she excused herself before allowing her steps to take her there. 

expecting that nobody would be there, she twists the doorknob and walks in only to be met with another figure. “oh,” she lets out before shutting the door behind her. out of instinct, really. “sorry, i thought this place would be empty. didn’t think anybody else knew of this hiding place.” she cracks a light joke hoping it’d loosen up the awkward atmosphere. suji thinks if it were any other day, she would have walked straight out and gone to a different waiting room, but something about the candy member has her lingering in her presence for a little longer.

hyojung wasn’t entirely sure how much the news of her fainting had gone around, but it seemed that almost everybody on set had heard about it. she hadn’t checked the internet to see if an article had gone up, but she’d assume that neither mnet nor her company would have wanted to spoil that before the episode so the safe bet is that through word of mouth, people within the industry heard about the dramatic falling of jung hyojung during a selene rehearsal.

she’s lingering around—desperately trying to find an area where there isn’t some camera down the corner—when she spots a familiar figure walking towards her. usually, she’d avoid interacting with anybody on the day of performances because of how chaotic the whole experience is, but there’s a wave of relief that overcomes her once she spots yerin. someone she knows won’t give her a ninety degree bow simply for walking down the hall. 

when she gets close enough, hyojung gestures for her to come over. “how are you doing?” it’s a pretty stupid question because she thinks the only logical answer to that question is tired or exhausted, but she asks it anyway. small talk’s usually a difficult topic for her, but she genuinely wants to know how yerin’s feeling on this busy day.

duri was thankful for a small break before going back to filming. he was feeling rather good today, simply because he got to rest, and didn’t have to worry about filming a performance today, especially in one go, since titan got to be able to do yesterday - thanks to the fact that they had managed to pull it off in round one, getting number one. but, pressure was still very much on, truth be told - but, that was something that he was putting aside for now, trying his best to really just not think about the pressure of crowned. 

nonetheless, duri had been walking through the hallways of where they were filming for crowned, having snacks in tow. it was rather important to have snacks, at least to duri, considering how long the day was. though, there was one person who he thought about sharing snacks with, to pay back for that choco pie, so he had gone looking for the leader of bc entertainment’s youngest group.

how do you deal with the stigma/commentary of being from an underrated girl group?

“Well, there’s a niche for us, isn’t there? A lot of people enjoy supporting groups that don’t get as much attention. I guess considering how much we sell, we’re not unknown enough for nugu promoter, but we’re probably sitting there in that mid tier level, which is good enough for me. We’re never going to sell millions, but if everybody was successful like that, the industry would implode, wouldn’t it?”
