9. Ive been told that as a woman, I am seen as soft flux flesh, seen as divine, yet as a divine meal for the self made worthy to eat. Seen as nothing ever but flesh, they have made it that way. Because we have made ourselves so thin that nothing can be beneath it. Once, I ripped out my own heart for someone to eat because it was too big a burden to carry. When he was done I gathered the leftover pieces, found them to be too light and followed the beast to collect the fragments he might drop. 10. I got lost along the way. 11. Im mad that boys are taught to be glaciers, that they can just go on, leaving behind miles of debris without consequence. 12. Im tired of girls being taught to be trees in storms. Rooting feet to reality, knowing you need thick skin to survive because no one else will protect you. Sometimes i decide that I miss you Find your number at the bottom of a bottle. You remind me of the alcohol. The way you are a disguised poison. The way I let you in continuously, despite the fact you were killing me. And the way you burn on the way down slow. A small reminder that you are not healthy. But it was so easy to ignore. Alcohol, a poison is supposed to burn. You, a poison are supposed to hurt. But I cant hate you completely. Like trying to hate the drink, when you are the addict. The way you were so easy to come back to. Because, like the pattern to getting drunk, i find you so predictable. There was comfort in the pattern.
