The Fujitsu FM-11, released in November of 1982, is the direct successor to the FM-8. Where the FM-7 was intended to be a consumer model version of the FM-8, the FM-11 is a major upgrade to the business model. It features a unique twin processor setup, with both a Morotola 68B09 CPU running at 2MHz and a Intel 8088 CPU running at 8MHz. It featured 128KB of RAM, upgradable to 1MB.
With the dual processors came a vast wealth of software to run on the platform. Alongside the various FM-7 and FM-8 programs, the FM-11 could run many different operating systems such as CP/M-86, CP/M-80, OS 9, FLEX, and even MS-DOS! There was no ROM BASIC, except for a budget model (the FM-11 ST) which didn't have a 5.25" floppy drive or a 8088 CPU.
Utilizing the 8088 gave Fujitsu the wealth of business software it needed to make its platform popular. It was why the FM-11's successor, the FM-16Ξ², used an 80186 (and late into the lifespan, an 80286) CPU over one of Motorola's chips.
