I specifically view him as aromantic and allosexual (what his sexuality is Iām open to any interpretation)
Focusing on the OāNeil run it mainly comes down to his dynamic with Myra
People like Ollie and Tot try and suggest how Vic is supposed to feel about her
But Vic refutes this quite consistently, while he cares very deeply about Myra, he doesnāt believe it is romantic/is uncertain that is the best word for it. At the very least, romance is not a motivator for him.
This panel is interesting to me for 2 reasons, ānot as I understand love anyway.ā Suggests Vic has interrogated what love means and that his perception of it may differ from others.
And he acknowledges directly that his relationship with Myra was focused on the physical, which aligns with his previous relationship with Judy (that was lacking an emotional aspect), and his superficial teenage attraction to Joan.
He does suggest he wouldāve liked to have been in love with Myra, but that suggestion itself implies that he didnāt feel that way about her.
The term he uses for himself here, āa dedicated bachelorā is pretty close to the term confirmed bachelor, which has been linked to implications of homosexuality but it isnāt quite the same, and if I take it at face value his suggesting either that he is dedicated to maintaining his life as an unmarried man, or that he has other dedications (such as his work) that he is focusing on over pursuing romantic connections.
Also he never says it back to her in the original OāNeil run.
Obviously I donāt think OāNeil wrote Vic as Aro intentionally, the term didnāt exist yet, but people who lacked an interest in romantic relationships did, and I think Vic was written to be that kind of person, so modern day I think the term aromantic can be applied to him relatively cleanly.
