Dick watched Emma as she continued to vent, unable to help the mild amusement that lurked in his features. He was well aware of that specific frustration with Bruce and his infuriating behavior, that demand to do everything by himself the moment real danger peaked its head from just around the corner. Then again, you can't really blame the man for being so cautious, considering everything he had gone through with all the previous Robins.
Bruce had a funny way of showing he cared, though Dick knew that he really did, deep down there. How he chose to express it, or not to express it, was an entirely different discussion to have altogether.
"I mean, at some point, I think that would be a great idea." Dick commented as he picked up another slice of pizza, taking a bite out of it and pulling the stringy cheese with it. They all set onto independent paths sooner or later; it was the nature of growing up from the Robin title. It didn't mean they weren't Robins at heart, of course, but they found their own ways to set onto the same task. "Go to college wherever you'd like, get to know people, learn, have fun, all that jazz. You know he's probably not going to stop you." No, Bruce would probably encourage it, really.
What stopped them, and Dick had a feeling would stop Emma too, was the relentless dedication to this self inflicted duty they all had. Neither of them could stop being what they were trained to be, what they chose to become.
Because that was just it, wasn't it? At the end of the day, they did choose to become this, to some capacity.
"I'm not saying you and Bruce aren't cool, or whatever. I'm just saying that sometimes we all need a bit of space from the bat, somewhere safe to be, too. And my place is always here if you need it." he offered a soft smile. "Just like you chose to come here today."
