any walker thoughts so far? how do you feel about the characters, plot points, or themes? i remember being really frustrated (positively hyperbolic connotation) that every character was at least a little likeable. couldn't really fathom how they did that lol but i did have a lottt to say about walker vs spn especially with jared as exec producer and a lot of other little details
yes! i think for me, although im only on episode 7, is there is a foundation of characters Trying to connect, whether they achieve it or not, because they Care and that makes their emotions vulnerable, their ties to each other key to what the show is episodically trying to do and makes me appreciate everyone- they want to be close, even when they’re working through their own issues and it’s part of their motivations. that redefines ‘power dynamics’ because it requires communication on equal terms, even between parent and child because a child needs to be respected in order to honestly communicate. what i also enjoy is the diversion from defining the parents between what is a dad role and what is a mom role- that emily was a PARENT just as cordell is and that overall this isn’t about gendered division of emotional labor but about the loss of a family member and the grieving and the support/relationship they need from the remaining parent as Well as cordell losing someone very important to his life (dimensions to emily). i enjoy emily’s presence in their memories (especially cordell’s) as functioning OUTSIDE the house, she teaches him how to drive stick shift (he later transfers this knowledge to their DAUGHTER) she is part of the building of the bar environment, she was the handyman, she brought stella books to read and talk about, she’s a person who is more than a ‘rolling in the sheets smiling with no dialogue wife.’ and i am biased because i like jared and gen, but i’m really appreciating seeing him play a family role that typically in american works are very masculine coded especially for a cop role and he chooses not to do that, like he plays a character who enjoys being a dad and loves his wife because he’s a person who loves being a dad and loves his wife. the family system feels real, the love for texas feels real. plus i get to see jared’s acting in a different context, so it is still jared, but i can tell all the little details that make cordell different from sam and it makes me appreciate his craft all the more. his choice like, to dunk his face in water to help with his anxiety/struggles with being undercover, his raw emotions on his face, him choosing to cry, him trying to stay close to his kids ‘i’m trying’ is just refreshing to me lol (i worried about the ranger aspect being too cop forward and taking over his ability to show vulnerability). also i like how many women, of different ages, we have, who are all very complete characters. um, at the end of the day it is a cop show but i do like the angles of acknowledging the system, how micki deals with her place in it as mexican american, the issues that affect stella’s friend bel. costuming is also fun, seeing jared shirtless yay, micki and her boyfriend also yay, but not too heavy on putting women in costuming that feels overly fanservice. this is kind of hitting all over the place, (not as related to spn maybe but..)
i would Love to hear your thoughts!!!
truee except I can’t be sad for him bc he’s a raging asshole through and through and I am especially aware of this when we’re Meant to feel sorry for him given how frequently that happens (as opposed to for his more blink-and-you’ll-miss-it instances of vulnerability)
relatable? very much so in certain lights. but I am only ever sad for him during occasional gaps between moments that I can’t articulate bc they are so fleeting and also he doesn’t need any more sympathy it’s made his head swell up to the size of a planet
any twisted sympathy I feel for him can only be safely expressed when I’m writing him and even then I’m not sure how it comes out on the page. I think people who don’t love him (yet or at all) can’t see it bc it’s layered into the scary soup. I hope some of you see it though bc he is vewy special to me and I like putting my whole hand inside him

thinking about the annasamruby pseudo-incest/selfcest threesome and im wondering how you think it would start. like how would it happen? how would they get there?
okay honestly. this is the part where i always get stuck. i have so many thoughts about how they would interact but it’s hard to fit into the canon timeline. i really don’t see it happening during 04x10 when they’re all in the same place together because, as we kind of talked about here and here, that’s an episode where sam is says no to ruby’s coercion and is actively attempting to fix the way dean perceives him & operate under the Sammy role. lynx & i were discussing timeline over text yesterday and what i landed on was the possibility of it existing in the nebulous space post-04x16 but pre-04x20 (where anna tells sam that there’s smth ‘different’ about him. fun to me if she knows exactly what & has fucked him.) i was thinking maybe she goes to talk to sam at some point post-04x16 (after her conversation with cas) and when she ‘flies in’ so to speak, ruby is already there and kind of. slowly gets her to join in. (incredibly detailed, i know. uh hopefully that part would kind of fall into place more upon writing. just approaching from the perspective that anna is a very curious character and one that doesn’t agree with the thought process of the other angels. and maybe she stays because she’s just being fascinated by what they’re doing and just wants to know more and it also just feels good, even though she thinks him drinking demon blood is wrong. and also kind of wanting to convince sam to stop at the same time and seeing if she’ll have any pull if she stays.) i also like this time frame a lot too because it’s kind of the peak of sam’s addiction and i think that would kind of lend itself into him being willing to do things he usually wouldn’t do. also he has already drunk some of ruby’s blood at this point so the whole thing happens while he’s the equivalent of intoxicated and he sort of goes from being actively engaging to more out of it while it progresses. anyways it’s less canon-based and more of just something that’s fun to talk about but i really enjoy thinking about the way the three of them might interact, especially samruby from anna’s hypothetical (somewhat outsider) pov. so that’s just some thoughts i guess ! i like figuring out how to make a fic work and this is definitely a weirder one but i think it has so many good possibilities & chances for character explorations

sam image (looking at rowena) for you
wahhhhh thank you…… samwena for my agonies…….<3
jeez dude you are so smart in the sense that you handle being able to be very specific and notice a lot very well
😭❤️
omg speechlesss thank you one of my favorite mind activities is noticing and putting details together this means so much to me
rank the season six episodes
all of them?? *cracks knuckles*
pretty fresh in my mind because I watched or skimmed all of them for sam every episode purposes recently
I will just rank in terms of my own personal enjoyment and add notes where I think it's helpful
clap your hands if you believe... - still makes me laugh however many rewatches later. my favorite soulless episode <333
the man who knew too much - I don't think this needs much justification beyond SAMSAMSAMSAMSAM
...and then there were none - not trying to make myself sound cool but I feel like I've always liked this episode a lot more than most of the fandom? idk though! it really sucked losing rufus, samuel, and gwen all in one episode (and like that!) but my resouled sam and samuel crumbs that I pretend is a full meal. plus I liked the episode format as a kid. also when sam gets separated from the rest :)
mommy dearest - mostly for eve
(letting you know this is the part where I had to really start thinking) the FIFTH.. come on... 🙄 OH. unforgiven
two and a half men. funney
caged heat
appointment in samarra
the man who would be king - hellers are really annoying about it but still a good episode. it was the sastiel season
the french mistake - again overrated but still a good episode. I really like the shot I chose for sam every episode :]
exile on main st.
family matters
you can't handle the truth
like a virgin - as kaz put it: what if dragons were mid
mannequin 3: the reckoning - sam passed out from cage memories
live free or twihard
frontierland
weekend at bobby's - too much bobby
let it bleed - never my favorite sera episode. I just moved it up because I remembered knocked out sam though
my heart will go on
the third man - just not wild about it
all dogs go to heaven - nick will kill me for this but I must be truthful. look it's not even for being "weird" it's just always been a skip of mine. like I've said if I never liked it as a kid it's extremely unlikely that I do now
in a few days I might look back at this ranking and think "how did I ever put this above this" but ranking an entire season is hard (but a fun challenge!). s6 is overall really enjoyable for me but many episodes do fall into a middle category of don't dislike but not jumping up and down excited to watch. I've been rearranging for the past 10 minutes so I will just post
