WIP Wednesday
Tagged by the darlings @aesthetictarlos @bidisasterevankinard and @sad-girl-hours23 (thank youuu ♥) I've been mostly jumping around the Tommy and Scott childhood friends au, my WIPs and FluffFebruary stuff! For today, I decided to share some of my FluffFebruary stuff, so here you go, I hope you enjoy it!
Stella and Leonardo had been to the beach many times in their lives; being four years old and raised in LA, that was to be expected.
The funny thing is that they hardly ever had ventured themselves into the sea. Once or twice, of course, they'd go close to it, holding one of their dads' hands, and let the wave tickle their toes. But they'd never manifested more interest than that.
After all, they had countless sand toys and an inflatable kiddie pool that Tommy or Evan would fill with seawater for them. They could splash to their little hearts' content right there, in the safety of their tent.
Tommy wouldn't admit it out loud, but this arrangement worked very well for him; he wasn't a big fan of the sea himself. When Evan felt like going in, either for swimming or surfing, he was perfectly happy staying at the shore with the kids and admiring his husband's fit physique as he rode the waves.
But he should have known this arrangement wouldn't last forever.
That his two adventurous little hurricanes wouldn't stay away from the ocean for long.
Usually, their beach days are just the four of them. But Bobby has recently retired, and Evan can only take so much of his former captain moping around like a sad little puppy when Athena's on shift (she's been thinking about retiring, they hear, but not until the year's over). So he invites him to join them, and the kids are thrilled to have their grandpa Bobby join on their adventure.
Incidentally, it also works very well for Buck and Tommy, because they get to take a romantic stroll by the ocean like they haven't in ages. It's nice, to feel the waves wrapping around their ankles while they swing their joined hands and talk about everything and nothing.
They get back to find both twins and Bobby very concentrated on the building of a sandcastle. There's talk of a moat, and bridges, and Tommy's pretty sure Bobby would make a goddamn wooden bridge if the kids ask for it.
Tommy throws himself on the picnic towel they brought, closing his eyes and tilting his head back, feeling the sun against his face and letting out a happy sigh. His restless husband, however, is already stretching, his eyes longingly gazing at the ocean before them.
"You and Bobby got them? Think I'm gonna go for a swim", he announces, and Tommy nods instantly.
However, he is not the only interested in Evan's plans.
"Me too!", Leo's voice pipes up, and he rushes to Evan's side, castle forgotten. "I go with you, Daddy!"
