After reading the fic with Levi kicking butt, I remembered a thought I once had. With Levi being the Grand admiral and a renown strategist, I can picture Levi and MC playing chess, but the pieces are actually his soldiers. He has them all line up and everytime one of the pieces move, that soldier moves. They are sweating, standing straight because we all know that if the game is ruined Levi will be quite mad... What do you think would happen when one of the pieces captures one?

I can imagine that if one of the pieces captures the enemy's piece, it'll probably be like a sparring? But the winner is already determined.

Maybe, the soldiers that has to act like the chess pieces are actually the soldiers who have to undergo disciplinary actions. And this is one of the methods that Levi used (which is actually the most ruthless method because the soldiers have to fight for death, and their deaths are actually determined by how well Levi and MC played their strategy in chess)
And because Levi is also MC's #1 simp, Levi sometimes purposely lose, so his soldiers will have to die by the hand of MC's soldier piece.
