I want to say hello and welcome to all of you following along on my Instagram journey. Here’s a little Friday introduction and a glimpse into my world right now. My name is Stacey and I’m going into my 11th season of flower farming. Here’s what I feel passionate about right now: 🌿Starting seeds in the greenhouse! It’s been snowing this week but the cool season baby plants are snug and warm. 🌿Colorful dormant branches. Amidst the quiet of these grey days, golden willow, crimson rose, and pink peach tree stems highlight the farm landscape. 🌿New ways of seeing in floral design. I love the awakening consciousness I see within floristry about foam-free design work. It’s heartening that wedding clients and designers recognize the importance of choosing not just local flowers, but designs that don’t create unnecessary and toxic trash. There’s so much beauty to draw on from seasonal flowers- no need for floral foam, bleached materials, floral preservatives or imported, chemically laden flowers. 🌿The Farm organism. I’m in deep contemplation about how to support the farm so that it feels in concert with the whole of nature- earth, cosmos, animals and plants, elemental forces. I want to move beyond the conventional input substitution model of typical organic farming with my management practices. 🌿Quiet time for reflection. I’m so grateful to have this time of year when the physical work of the farm is slowed down so that I can attend to my inner work.
