An Illustration based on Ripple, the Water Spirit, a story from the Flower Fables by Louisa May Alcott. In the scene I illustrated, Ripple is laying to rest the body of a drowned boy. Its really sad, but the rest of the story makes up for it. Its a good read, I highly recommend it.
I’m kind of obsessed with mermaids and I always try to find an excuse to draw them. So, when I had read Ripple, the Water Spirit, I took the opportunity and BAM, an illustration was born.
Drawn in marker, graphite and pen with a digital finish.
