This is one of my favourite videos for the USWNT, I’ve watched many times but only now I noticed one sad detail: Carli Lloyd didn’t have her mother by her side that day and she was accompanied by Hope Solo’s grandmother. I realize now that it was 2015 and she didn’t speak with her family back then, partly for the choices she made, mostly in my opinion for the way she was badly influenced by the creepy Galanis. But whatever the reason was, it must have felt terrible to see all her teammates with their mothers while she didn’t have anyone. And even if I don’t always like Carli nor Hope, what Hope did, literally lending her own grandmother to her best friend, was really a nice gesture. I already liked Cindy Heath but after what Tobin said recently, she’s now a legitimate hero. Same goes for Debbie Krieger. And then there’s Christen’s mom and she had the brightest smile just like her daughter. I love that they did that on Mother’s Day, you don’t see this kind of things on men’s football, it’s like they have to be detached from emotions sometimes. That’s why I’ll always cherish the moment when Florenzi scored for AS Roma and he ran to hug his grandmother! I think it’s important to celebrate the support network these athletes have, the idea that a professional athlete has to sacrifice affections and relationships in order to focus only on their careers and reach success is honestly bullshit. And I believe, from what I read and heard, that’s the biggest mistake Carli actually did.

Michelangelo Fortuzzi’s performance as Matteo is really cool to watch because it’s so different from the other Isak ones (not putting them down, just pointing out that they’re different--we all know Tarjei, Federico, and Axel are acting gods lol) in that it’s a very very physical performance. Matteo obviously isn’t very verbose or even facially expressive, but you can tell everything he’s feeling from how he walks and carries himself. He constantly slouches, his head’s always down, he practically drags himself everywhere. Everything about his presence is just tired and even kind of aimless. You can feel all the isolation, loneliness, and and almost like defeat simmering underneath. It’s going to be interesting to see how that physicality changes after he falls in lurve
