i just don't understand how people can stop loving their pets because the animal isn't a baby anymore. i don't think i'll ever be able to wrap my head around it. my cat is almost fully grown now and sometimes i'm like "damn i remember when he was mad tiny" but i still love him obviously. in fact i think watching him grow up made me love him more. sure, now he's bigger and is therefore a bigger pain in the ass, but i've watched him grow and learn about the world around him. i watched him grow into his long tail, i watched the white patch on his chest get bigger, i watched his big adult teeth grow in, felt as his claws got longer and stronger. and even better, i was here for him as he started to love me, too. god i couldnt imagine leaving him just because he got bigger. i love him all the more for his having grown up here in my arms. anyone who abandons their pets for any reason (other than completely unavoidable circumstances i.e. losing your house) is unforgivable in my eyes, and even more so if the only reason for abandoning your pet is that it's no longer a kitten or a puppy.
