”I’ve honestly lost track of time here. Actually maybe I’m 28… somewhere in my late 20s.”

Part of the reason is that I just can’t draw canary beaks all too well but the main reason why he isn’t there is because I don’t show him that often on the blog and don’t want him to become a major part of it.  He’s just becoming so old that I don’t want his passing to have too drastic of an effect on people’s lives, if I were to make a larger portion of this blog all about him it’s possible that people would be more stricken at the time of his passing. With the way things are set up, people know about him, care about him but when he leaves it won’t be as noticeable since the blog is dominantly surrounding the parrotlets, most people wouldn’t even notice if I stopped posting about him at all which is good in a sense.  Another factor is that I can’t imagine having to be the one that removes him from that icon if he was on there, could you imagine having him pass then have to log on and sit there erasing him..  Not to say that he isn’t important or that people won’t care when he’s gone, that’s definitely not the tone I’m trying to imply, I just feel as though the effects will be lessened this way as opposed to if I had him branded on everything.  There would be this massive feeling of emptiness watching all the branding change to erase him as opposed to him never being there in the first place. I love the old boy, I might draw up a christmas icon to include him if you’d like but I won’t be making him a massive part of the branding, I hope you can understand that.

Flippy was not hand raised and was probably almost a year old when I got him, he’s not completely tamed.  Part of his calmness when he laid is simply because he’s old, he doesn’t really have the energy to be as hyperactive as most canaries are so training him to allow that interaction was a bit easier since he’d be more willing to stay still.  I worked on taming him myself but never really pushed it to the extent some may want, he just needed to be tolerable of me being around so he wouldn’t be stressed by coming out of the cage for exercise and cage cleaning so I didn’t really work at making him super duper tame.

Flippy doesn’t get interacted with much anymore due to his age, it’s just stressful and the amount of energy expended on the interaction really tires the poor guy out now. He’s never been a cuddly bird, it’s not much of a canary behaviour, just hopping and flying around being energetic little borbs.
