Flight Magic
Dragons fly with magic, everyone knows that. Everyone also knows how this magic works. When a dragon flaps their wings, fin-like structures growing from behind a dragon’s shoulders, it generates the magic required for a dragon to get off the ground.
Wings are needed, but only the flapping. Small wings can flap too, and save space. Large wings can flap, and serve as ornate display structures.
So the prompt: If dragons need wings to flap, but everything else about the wing is free to evolve, what do dragons look like? Do females have small wings just for escape? Do males have ornate display structures with elaborate frills and colors? Have any dragons lose their wings entirely, rendering them flightless?
