6 Things I love about Rebelmouse(.com)
They've cracked the nut on social curation.
1. The User Interface. Aside from being visual and clean (kinda Flipboard-ish) it utilizes one of my favorite features, “endless scroll.” It’s the feature we all love about LinkedIn & Pinterest (whether you’ve thought about it or not) that eliminates pagination and creates a frictionless way to “get lost” in the content. There are other great features, including their “embed” which is in beta to check out as well.
2. The Snapshot. Because Rebelmouse has curated content from social accounts, you get an immediate snapshot of a user’s interests instead of seeking out individual social accounts to achieve the same thing. It’s essentially a social homepage for people and brands.
3. I can “Stick it.” – Like Pinterest, Rebelmouse has a bookmarklet that you can use to “stick” media and content to your page from any other page. It’s a great way to help you “collect” things of interest and display them among your social posts.
4. They’re “real people” at the ready. They actually let you respond to dynamic emails (an elevated touchpoint!) and communicate in a timely fashion via Twitter DM – after all isn’t that what social is about?
5. They’re iterating. I had two questions immediately after signing up. 1) “Is there an app in the works?” and 2) Will there be more search functionality added?” Both questions were answered via Twitter DM for me and I’m happy to say it was a “yes” to both!
6. "Story Stats" (AKA crack). I added a sixth thing I love to the original "5 Things..." post. This feature may just be the most important yet. From your homepage, you can mouseover any of your posts to reveal a "stats" option. Opening this reveals a mini-dashboard that displays (and graphs) the virality of that particular post or "story" in this case. It shows you shares on FB, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest as well as "clicks per hour." No doubt mainstream users will easily be hooked on the performance of their posts over time. For many, it's "metrics gone mainstream."
People should be excited about Rebelmouse and brands even more so. Here's a look at my page: https://www.rebelmouse.com/jenkavs/
