Climbing has always come naturally to me- weird since heights is a fear of mine. For some reason natural heights don’t affect me in the same way that man-made heights do. Instead the heights that a mountainside provide revitalize my soul and re-energize my mind. Climbing is a part of my path, whether it is hiking up a mountain or bouldering up rocks, or just ascending up a tree, that is where you will find me- with the wind in my hair and the sun on my face. Sometimes we have to look our fears directly in the eye to overcome them. For me, my fear of heights is second only to my fear of failure. Today I am practicing facing my fears head on. I am attempting to relinquish fear’s control over me by accepting that at times I will fail, and that each failure is just another step toward my ultimate success.
