A favorite moment of mine is the priest briefly and hilariously screaming in the camera. It's like the physical version of shouting, "who the fuck is this invisible friend you're checking out to and being honest with so you don't have to bother with anyone else?"
This is a Love Story
Well. Holy. Shit. I just realized romantic love wasn't at all part of Fleabag's first season. As in, I fell head first into both seasons over the course of a week. Which is a very high concentration of Excellent Storytelling for my mind to handle. Which is my excuse for completely failing to notice the lack of romantic love in season 1. (Romantic Love! Missing in a story about love and women and by a woman! And she just completely skipped the thing our stories are stereotyped for and thrilled at and figuring out our relationship to as many shades of feminists. Jesus, now I'm in love.)
But now that I have noticed, I understand that it's even more startling than that because it was all executed with such precision there wasn't even a hint something was missing! Which of course should be a story we tell more often but no one ever seems to.
The closest was Harry and that's saying something. As their well worn patterns played out I knew Fleabag didn't love Harry and it didn't bother me, I didn't notice a lack. There were all the other kinds of love and grief on display.
So season 2 opens and in a breath-taking, devilish salute to the type of narrator Fleabag is resoundingly not, she announces, "This is a love story."
Knock me down with a fucking feather.

So...I'm fairly sure in Fleabag 2x05 Claire, off stage left in her moment of joyful freedom and delight at not having to stay in her terrible marriage, contacted the Priest and said something to effect of, "Hi Father, this is Claire. My sister lives at blah blah blah. And also, she loves you so go do something about it."
Right?
And that's just so heart-warming I want to hug her through the screen.
Fleabag gets in me in a way that makes me retroactively grateful all the priests I've known have been exceedingly geriatric.

Just rewatched Fleabag season 1, saw the roots of the Priest in Bank Manager, didn't connect those dots the first time around.
Amo #Fleabag me encanta esa serie que lo tiene todo, desde Amor, religion, filosofía, relaciones humanas, el poder del auto perdón, y porque no el lado comico de la vida con esos irreverentes giros irónicos que Phoebe Waller-Bridge magistralmente maneja frente a la pantalla. Me re identifico con su personaje porque suelo tener conversaciones internas comicas y esa puja constante entre la culpa, el perdon, la trascendencia y las benditas dudas que nos llevan a una sabiduría que sin conflicto no sabriamos diferenciar en este mundo tridimensional y grisado por mentes egoista, y tambien con esa constante necesidad de sacarle una risa a cada cosa que sucede en la vida después de todo la ironía de vivir en una historia tragicomica donde nos chocamos entre nuestros inflados egos buscando soluciones tan simples como empatizar con el/la otrx. Bueh no la alargo más, (ahhhh menos mal Diana pensé que ibas a seguir dando la lata XD ) Y bueno acá está #Fleabag no espero que la disfrutes.
