Alterra Worldbuilding Journal - Introduction
Hey everybody! Dave here (aka @flavoracle) with an introduction for a series of posts Iâm calling the âAlterra Worldbuilding Journal.â (You know, like the title above implies.)Â
Hereâs the main thing you need to know about the posts in this series: These share thoughts about and possible interpretations of the world of Alterra that have come up during my weekly talks with the gameâs creator and head designer, Parrish (aka @professortallguy) but none of it should be taken as the final word or âcannonâ of the world. While I certainly like these theories and worldbuilding ideas, âAge of Explorationâ players and storytellers should NOT feel constrained or restricted by anything Iâm posting here.Â
Why am I taking the time to write this whole intro? Because in these posts, Iâm going to be writing these thoughts and theories as if they are fact, and not speculation. (Believe me, after starting some early drafts, doing this allows me to keep the wording MUCH simpler than constantly adding qualifying statements like, âaccording to this theory...â or, âso my thoughts on this are...â)Â
This post will also serve as a kind of master post that I can update with links to all of the Worldbuilding Journal posts below the âKeep Readingâ area.Â
OK, so with that out of the way, letâs get to some worldbuilding, shall we?Â
To commemorate @flavoracle and his adventures through drawing, I decided to draw his Hashitake Monk. I havent been drawing a whole lot lately, but I hope you enjoy Dave!
Looking at your art causes noises inside me that I can't control. This includes (but is not limited to) gerbil-like chirrups, wistful sighs, and and satisfied grunts.
I very much hope this means itâs good and not that you are slowly polymorphing into a gerbil...
Iâve got just enough followers for @flavoracle to have his own page, which I thought was somewhat funny.

Miniatures are basically my biggest hobby these days, which is probably no surprise to anyone here since I talk about painting and building them. I just picked up a starter kit for Warmachine, because there is just the most awesome figure where the gown of the caster is made of screaming souls.
I feel like theres a message here
@flavoracleâs hydra âwalker, Tormanu. The design is Daveâs, not mine, as is the character. The art is @dancing-swordâs on this version. The set symbol is @akroveros âs Bant symbol after Daveâs suggestion. Alternate art/effects versions are available under the read more
