#flat lighting

Abandoned Project 2015 Due to file corruption, I cannot finish this animation. So here’s what I have done. The music wasn’t my intended choice of audio, but I found it recently and think it fits pretty well. Enjoy!

Always wanted to get the flat light look you see in so many motion graphic videos?  Try this:

- Cell Renderer -> Colors + Illumination = Check - Light -> Ambient Illumination = Check + Turn on shadows

In order to learn  photography you must learn how to light your subject. 

In the basics of lighting there are 5 different lighting patterns

The last 2 lighting patterns I want to talk about is split and flat lighting.

Split Lighting

This is very simple pattern and often used for dramatic results, so don't over use it in your studio. The concept is reflected by the name - you split the subject's face with the light. So only half of the face is lit by the light, the other half lays in the shadow. As you understand, the main light source is placed way to the side of the subject and almost on the same plane as the subject's head.

Here's the setup:

Last but not least flat lighting

Flat Lighting is accomplished by putting both your designated key and fill lights at 45 degrees on either side of the subject and powering them so that each meters the same. No shadows will appear on the subject’s face.

Going to school my teacher would always say that this was his least favorite because it was considered as crap light. But I believe you can make a beatiful photograph with flat lighting.
