How do emergency flat boots work? Do they have one in every size? Or one for each queen?
One for each actor!
The North American productions create them at the same time as they create the heeled boots, so each actor has a pair of heeled boots and a pair of flat boots from the start (note that this started in 2021/2022 depending on the cast - previously flat boots had just been made for them when needed).
The UK productions seem to still make flat boots for the actors just when/if they’re needed. Occasionally the actors have worn old Lady in Waiting boots in a pinch when they’ve been waiting to get their own.
The early cruise productions had initially had both heeled and flat boots for every actor from the start because of turbulence from, y’know, performing on a ship. They phased that out when coming back from Covid so everyone just had heeled boots at all times.
