My DSpico came today!
It's really nice in the hand, nicer than I expected it to be! The build quality on it is great, it's super easy to set up (either using their GitHub to compile it yourself, the precompiled package from flashcarts.net, or just running whatever the manufacturer put on it before shipping), and runs great! It boots up fine on both my DS and my DSi, plays and saves fine, and it loads a lot faster than nds-bootstrap, albeit without any of the extra features that gives you. I already tested hotswapping it between my DS and my DSi, and it's exactly what I wanted! Ironically though, I dislike when flashcarts auto-boot on a DS and bypass the system menu, which I'm glad this doesn't do on the DS, however it does do this on the DSi due to the exploit it uses to boot on unmodded systems. You can just pop it out, start the system, and pop it in no problem, just funny that my problem has swapped from one console to the other. No big deal either way, it's a great flashcart and I'm looking forward to using it regularly. If anybody knows where I can find any user-made skins for it, lemme know!
ohmygod ive been trying to figure out how to get pokemon white/b2 to work on my dstt flashcart for a couple hours straight and thankfully some dude on reddit saw my post and helped out, all of the tutorials i had seen were 10+ years old so im glad to have found something that (hopefully) works today :3

Any tips for DS homebrew?
I think it varies depending on what kind of flashcart you get. I got the cheapest one, an R4. I think it cost me like $15 at the time. I’m surprised it still works - I hear a lot of stories from people talking about how their cheap flashcarts bit the dust after a year or two, and I’ve had mine for almost four years. The data on the MicroSD will occasionally corrupt itself, though, and sometimes the DS won’t see the flashcart itself (that’s usually fixed by taking out and re-inserting the cart).
If you do end up getting an R4, you should change the firmware to something called “WoodR4” if it does not already come with it pre-installed. WoodR4 is an adaptation of the firmware for another flashcart, and it’s way, way better.
Most DS homebrew comes in ROM files, just like official games (*.nds). In most cases you just slap the *.nds on the flashcart in Windows and run it on the DS. Very easy. Sometimes homebrew will require you to have additional files, but it’s basically just like a Windows program - make sure everything is in the appropriate folders and you’re good to go. The DS port of Knytt Stories is like this.
The crackdown on flashcarts continues:
"This month, France joins a growing list of countries taking a strong legal stance against video game piracy. The Paris’ Court of Appeals issued guilty verdicts on Sept. 26th against Divineo SARL, along with five other companies, for the importation, sale and distribution of game copier devices commonly referred to as 'linkers' in France (in other countries, the devices may be called R4s or Magicom).
This decision now brings France in line with other European territories, including the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Italy and Belgium, based on decisions they already have rendered. It also is consistent with other court decisions that have been issued globally."
